Q&A: How can we find out if a winning lottery ticket is legit?
Question by handsoff: How can we find out if a winning lottery ticket is legit?
I received an e-mail stating I won a lottery and they are asking for a payment fee for services provided before the release of the check. I want to know if this company is legitimate before I send any money.

Did you enter, did you buy a ticket? If not, they are trying to cheat you don’t send any money.
Send me $ 1 and I will tell you if its legit.
No its a scam, and a very old one, Give me money now and I will make you rich later.
never ever believe in any of those. especially when it’s completely random. they’re just scams/spams.
Well ask yourself this question:
Did you purchase a lottery ticket, and give them your email address?
If you didn’t, then you have not won, it’s that simple. A lottery works by people paying money to buy tickets. If they just randomly gave money away to people, how would they ever make any money?
You received a scam email, delete it and move on.
go to the place that sells lottery tickets
It is a scam, friend. You have not won anything. Trash the messages, and forget about ’em
When you get an e-mail saying you won, and you didn’t play, it’s a scam. There is no lottery or gifting program known to man that gives away free money picking people at random. Does Not Exist! If you played in a free online lotto game, you may have won or it is scammers using the name of the game, just as they use other more famous company names. No legitimate lottery contest sweepstakes free or paid will ever ask you for tax money upfront or later, for taxes or shipping, if they do it’s a fake. If they send you a check, it is for over the amount, they say that’s for taxes, deposit, send the difference between the prize and the check right away, the check will bounce and you will owe what you sent plus fees for depositing a bad check. Some like Publishers Clearing House and Free Lotto are real but use doggy advertising that suggests you won, you didn’t. http://www.ripoffreport.com is full of idiots that can’t read from countries not eligable to play surprised they didn’t get their million or clearly sent the tax shipping fee to scammers not Free Lotto. Never send money to a free lottery. If you really win a prize notice will come in the mail with an IRS tax form, you may have to provide your address if you didn’t fully register to play as some require only an email to play until you win (know the rules of games you play). I’ve won plenty of prizes and that’s how it’s done. Anything else is not worth the risk.
